Flanking
Engaging from multiple zones
A powerful tactic in the game is Flanking. It involves multiple forces engaging a single force from various directions. This takes coordination and when done right, all Faction Kai in the Zone gain a bonus to their Power Level during battle.
Flanking Bonus
To receive a flanking bonus a faction must fulfill one of the following conditions:
Move Kai into a zone from two different zones.
Move into a zone that your faction already controls and has at least one Kai present.
Each additional zone a faction engages in battle from grants a 4% PWR BOOST.
1 extra zone provides a 4% PWR BOOST during battle.
2 extra zones provides a 8% PWR BOOST during battle.
3 extra zones provides a 12% PWR BOOST during battle.
For example, if a faction is engaging in battle from 4 extra zones, the Power Level of all Faction Kai in the zone will be temporarily increased by 16%. The more zones a faction can engage in battle from, the bigger the flanking bonus will be.
Flank Counters
While flanking is an advanced tactic that grants a bonus, it can also be countered to prevent the enemy from receiving a bonus. Here are some but not all examples:
Order some of your Kai to move to the zones where the enemy's flank is suspected to be coming from and engage them en-route.
Order some of your Kai to hold the zone under threat of being flanked, and then order the rest of your Kai to move to the zones where the enemy's flank is suspected to be coming from and engage them en-route.
Order all Kai to one zone to intercept the enemy with the expectation you will have 1 battle en-route and then be bounced back to a 2nd battle upon return to the zone.
Before committing Kai to counter flanking, take into account the Zone Effects, Modifiers, and enemy Kai positions on the battlefield. In many cases, attempting to counter the flank may be too risky and it's better to simply hold position.
