Game Brief

Stages

A single game (or Campaign) in Domination is divided into four stages:

Game Flow

  1. Enlistment Stage: Players can enlist their Kai in a Campaign, which locks the Kai in the Game Pool for an equal chance of being chosen for deployment.

  2. Selection of Kai: Once the enlistment period ends, Kai are randomly selected from the Game Pool for deployment. Any Kai not selected for deployment can enlist in another game.

  3. Loadout Stage: Each Kai is automatically equipped with a random selection of Modifiers.

  4. War Stage: This stage consists of a variable number of Cycles, each made up of two phases: the Strategy Phase and the Execution Phase. At the start of the game, all Kai are automatically deployed into starting Zones on the map and the game timer begins.

  5. Strategy Phase: Players can enable Modifiers and choose an Action for their Active Kai via the Command Bar. They can choose to have their Idle Kai engage an adjacent zone or hold position in the current zone. Any Active Kai without a selected action will remain idle and incur penalties.

  6. Execution Phase: All inputs for each Kai, such as actions and modifiers, execute simultaneously and in the same sequence. This phase is virtually instantaneous and ends when all Execution Steps are complete.

  7. Preparation: At the start of the Execution Phase, PREP modifiers are activated in all currently occupied zones.

  8. Deployment: All Kai begin engaging their target zones or hold their current zone based on their issued command. Battles can occur while Kai are en-route to their destination. After a battle en-route, Kai will act as reinforcements if retreating back to their own zone or, if victorious, proceed into the target zone.

  9. Reinforcing Zones: If a player's Kai is reinforcing a zone that is already controlled by their faction, the reinforcement occurs before any battles within the zone.

  10. Zone Battles: When Kai from opposing factions occupy the same zone, a battle occurs. BATTLE modifiers are activated and Kai engage each other in a single round of combat. The battle ends when one faction controls the zone, or in a draw where no faction gains control. If a faction retreats from battle and enters into a zone that is under control of another faction, a Sudden-Death battle will occur.

  11. Endgame: Cycles continue until a single faction controls every zone on the map or other victory conditions are met.

  12. Spoils Stage: Once the game ends, players are given any earned rewards and their Kai can now enlist in a new campaign.
